“The ONLY CANIDATE With Sheriff’s Office Experience.

A NOTE FROM RUAMEN DELARUA

Hello, fellow Miami-Dade resident:

I, Ruamen DeLaRua, bring over 40 years with Sheriff’s Office experience, having worked on special projects with Sheriff Grady Judd and other great Sheriffs in Florida. For 26 years, I worked for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, under Sheriff Don Moreland, a recent Florida Law Enforcement Hall of Fame inductee, who has endorsed me! The best thing is that I grew up in Hialeah, raising my family in Miami Dade County, and I do NOT owe anyone anything. Believe it or not, there are candidates in this race who have worked for MDPD for a very long time, and they live in other counties. They NEED to continue the corruption and control your tax money because they need to protect their JOB$! But not me. I am here to work for you! I already retired, came out of retirement to help my community, only to be let down by a lack in leadership!

I ask for your vote because the others are already bought off, and OUR COMMUNITY DESERVES BETTER. It’s time for change! For THE FIRST TIME EVER, MIAMI-DADE CITIZENS WILL ELECT THEIR SHERIFF. In the past, corruption existed because the Sheriff was SELECTED BY POLITICIANS NOT ELECTED by We The People.

Crime & corruption disappear with transparency and accountability. It is past time for new leadership; it is time for change!

As the Peoples’ Sheriff, I will create the first ever Sheriff’s Office, complete with constitutional culture for citizens to be serviced instead of just SERVED with court papers or jail sentences.

Some will tell you that switching the name from POLICE to SHERIFF is the only BIG CHANGE! OR that the Commission holds the purse strings! That is NOT true.

As the Peoples’ Sheriff, I will be under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis, not the elected politicians who currently control you and your tax dollars. The County Commission may approve the budget, but they have NO say over its function of the budget. And if they, or the Attorney General's office, try to control me, my deputies, or the budget, my first call will be to the governor, who holds the power to remove them all. I’ve heard they don’t like him either.

Equipped with well-established values, I will create an environment where crime is reduced and citizens are safe. We need to regain OUR quality of life and peace of mind. My Deputies will be your community allies, treating citizens with the utmost respect.

We, The People, have experienced the consequences of ineffective leadership, corruption cover-ups, budget mismanagement, poor internal policies, and poorly trained staff—this costs us all with civil and personal injury lawsuits. I will eliminate toxic environments by creating a corruption task force that demands and prosecutes the criminals, not the victims.

Many candidates vying for the Sheriff’s title are the same police who held or hold high-ranking positions and are more concerned about their pension$ than your interest. They did not make necessary changes when they had the opportunity. Why should the Miami-Dade County Citizens trust them to make changes now? YOU SHOULD NOT ELECT ANYONE WHO ALREADY WORKS IN THE CORRUPT MIAMI DADE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

As the “outsider”, I DO NOT OWE ANY FAVORS TO ANYONE BUT THE VOTERS. I am the only one with the experience to audit corruption and issues for We The People. If that worries people within the department or costs them their jobs, then they are part of the problems, and they will be the loudest to campaign against me, as I have already detected some doing.

To surrounding municipalities and officers, I look forward to collaborating with you to improve your policing conditions. Take comfort in knowing that a swift and smooth transition will be made using my 40+ years of combined experiences, always leading the way. I pledge that I want what is best for our communities and you won’t have to work in a corruption, tainted environment where your life and finances are controlled by politicians.

Accountability is equally important. I am a leader who holds myself to the same level of accountability. Positive culture and thoughtful actions foster a culture of responsibility and fairness. When we abide by the Constitution, everyone’s expectations are clear, and everyone is held to the same standard. Protecting citizens’ interests and encouraging hard work and dedication will be recognized and rewarded, not corruption.

Miami-Dade County deserves better! As your highest law enforcement leader, I understand the importance of serving the community and practicing good stewardship for the greater good of everyone. By engaging with the community and giving back, we can create a positive impact and prove that we are not just here to make a profit but to make an incredible difference.

FAMILY HISTORY

Ru-”Amen Jesus” & Missy For Miami Dade

(ret.) Sheriff’s Office Commander Loves God, Family & Country

I was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, and at the age of two, my family fled through Camarioca on the Freedom Flights to New York via Miami. A few years later, we returned to Hialeah, where I was raised.

My parents were from Havana. My dear father worked as a Santiago-Havana bus driver for more than 20 years, transporting thousands of Cubans throughout the island. My beloved mother was a nurse for many years, always helping those in need with much love and endearing care. Both contributed for many years to the Cuban Diaspora in the United States and always longed to see Cuba once again free and sovereign.

Knowing what was coming to Cuba, my grandfather immigrated to New York in the 1950s and settled in New Jersey, which is why we briefly lived in the northeast of our country. During those years, there were not many Latinos like the presence that exists today, and he worked very hard for many years to get his children out of Cuba’s communist yoke and toward freedom.

My grandfather’s last daughter to leave Cuba was my dear Aunt Tia Flora DeLaRua. She lived in Spain for a few years until arriving in Miami in 1974. Today, Tia Flora is 93 years old, and I thank God that she is still a part of my life, always learning from her values that have guided me.

While attending Palm Springs Junior High School in Hialeah, I joined the Police Explorer’s program, where my interest in a career in law enforcement was catapulted into action and where I am today. It would be the highest honor and reward to have this opportunity to serve our county's nearly 3 million residents as your Sheriff. I humbly ask for and appreciate your support.

Sincerely,

Ruamen DeLaRua
